The Forest Risk Research Centre responds to the increasing intensity of forest disturbance by various factors, such as drought, wind, bark beetles, and fire. The centre’s activities focus on understanding the mechanisms of these changes, assessing the development of forest ecosystems under climate change and intensifying disturbances, and designing appropriate strategies and measures. A separate area of research is biological invasions in forests, their mechanisms, ecological impacts, and the formulation of strategies to prevent them. The goal is to strengthen the transfer of research knowledge into practice, especially in the areas of risk management and forest adaptation to climate change.
