Research potential
The laboratory provides material facilities for research activities of all FFWS and CZU departments. Wood-based samples and test materials can be prepared and precisely processed and shaped here. Modern technologies enable researchers carry out their projects aimed to wood machining parameters and woodworking machinery.
Technological equipment
Roundwood can be sawn and the sawn wood stacked and dried – naturally or artificially – in the indoor hall – wood storage place. We have a horizontal bandsaw and chamber kiln for sawn wood. Solid-wood and wood-based materials machining takes place in the joinery workshop equipped with traditional woodworking machinery, veneer machines, veneer splicing machines and NC and CNC technologies. Wood can be handcrafted in the hand-tool workshop equipped also by laser technology for cutting and engraving wooden materials. The phase of surface finishing takes places in the painting shop with a suction wall. There are also rooms for storage and tool-maintenance in the pavilion.
Teaching in the new educational facilities
The laboratory supports all subjects related to woodworking and wood processing, especially Wood-Processing and Furniture Machinery, Technology and Mechanization of Wood Processing, CNC Technologies and others. Besides teaching technical subjects, we provide block practices for first-year students of bachelor Wood Technology and Entrepreneurship in Wood Processing and Furniture Industry study programmes.
