The laboratory is equipped with a wide range of apparatus and equipment used to observe various objects and subsequently record their images. It also has specialized software for quantitative evaluation of the captured image (image analysis).
Microscopic techniques in transmitted light (upright optical microscope) are mainly used. The instrumentation also enables evaluation of the structure in incident light (stereomicroscope). Both the microscope and the stereomicroscope are equipped with a camera attachment and an image can be recorded of the observed object.
The laboratory has a scanner with high resolution (600 DPI) for capturing images of large-format flat objects.
A tripod with a camera is placed in the laboratory for routine scanning. Due to the primary focus of the laboratory (wood and wood-based materials), it also includes microtomes for the preparation of microscopic preparations and preparation of samples for further analyses.
