This laboratory focused on the chemical processing of wood and biomaterials is intended for basic chemical analyses (decomposition of wood into its individual components), chemical modification of wood, the preparation of resins, paper production, and analyses related to it, as well as the production of non-woven textiles.
From basic chemical analyses, the content of extractable substances is determined in the laboratory; but above all, the content of macromolecular substances forming wood or biomaterials. The basic analyses of macromolecular substances include the determination of cellulose, holocellulose, lignin and hemicelluloses, or pentoses and hexoses.
Regarding the chemical modifications that can be carried out here, various new resin suspensions are also being created, with which wood or chipboard can be modified.
Finally, non-woven textiles made of nanofibres can be produced in the laboratory using the unique nanospider technology.
