Our research potential
The main focus of the laboratory is the provision of the material for research activities of all Faculty workplaces, and thus also other workplaces within CZU. It is possible to prepare samples and test bodies from wood and wood-based materials according to the relevant standards and with the corresponding precision and quality of processing. Thanks to modern technologies, it is possible to carry out research projects focused on wood machining parameters and the area of wood machining tools.
Technological equipment in the laboratory
The cutting of logs into planks, the storage of timber, and its natural and artificial drying takes place in a covered area called the timber warehouse. This workplace is equipped with a horizontal band saw and a chamber timber dryer. Machining of solid wood and wood-based materials takes place in the joinery workshop, which has both traditional wood machining equipment and machines for veneering and pressing, as well as NC and CNC technologies. Manual processing takes place in a workshop equipped with laser technology designed for cutting and engraving wooden material. The surface treatment of the products is carried out in a paint shop equipped with an extraction wall. Other workplaces are product storage as well as tool storage and maintenance.
Pedagogical use of new spaces and equipment
Teaching support takes place in all technical subjects related to wood processing, especially in the subjects Wood processing and furniture machinery, Technique and mechanization of wood processing, CNC technology, and subjects related to the teaching of wood machining and wood machining tools. In addition to the teaching of technical subjects, prqctical training of students of the first and second years of the bachelor's fields of Wood processing and Entrepreneurship in the wood processing and furniture industry also take place in blocks here.
