The programme is taught in English but it is possible to study it in Czech as the programme Lesnictví specialized in Ochrana a pěstování lesních ekosystémů.
The Bachelor´s study programme belongs to the programmes taught in English at the FFWS and can be studied only as a full-time programme. The greatest advantage of this programme is its providing the students with a comprehensive knowledge of forestry covering all spheres of forestry (biological, technological and even ecological) from nature protection, forest production to recreational and other forest functions with regard to sustainable silviculture. Students of this programme will acquire all knowledge necessary for empirical forestry.
The final state examination is passed before the commission. The student defends the Bachelor´s thesis and passes examinations in four comprehensive subjects: Forest Harvesting and Logging (Těžba a doprava dříví), Forest Management (Hospodářská úprava lesů), Forest Protection (Ochrana lesa) and Silviculture (Pěstování lesů).
The graduates of the Bachelor´s study programme Forestry will earn a Bachelor´s degree Bc. and submit applications for some of the related programmes of the Master´s study programmes (especially for Forest Engineering or Forestry, Water and Landscape Management) or they leave the university and start their career in developing countries or in the EU authorities and deal with global issues of forests and forestry in Europe as well as in the world.
The high level of the FFWS graduates is also proved by the latest survey of the rate of unemployment of university graduates. This rate is very low in case of the FFWS graduates – 1,6 %.
