Graduates of this postgraduate (PhD) branch of study gain special expertise as regards the procedures for forest prevention and protection and applied zoology/game management focusing on the deepening of theoretical and practical knowledge of scientific procedures. This branch of study is focused on the broad issue of protection of forests against harmful agents, mainly against insect pests. In addition to application to forest protection, the doctoral thesis also addresses the issue of basic research of insects, fungi and their symbiotic relationships as critical underlying data for forest protection as such. The research uses the state-of-the-art methods of geostatistics, dendrochronology and climate models in relation to effects on the harmful factors. This branch of study has numerous opportunities for involvement in international cooperation with research results quickly implementable in practice.
