This specialization replaces the original field of study Wood Technology.
Entrance exam: Written exam in mathematics. Successful participants of secondary school science competitions and secondary school professional activities are accepted without entrance exams. Foreigners who do not have a secondary school leaving examination in a field taught in Czech or Slovak will be interviewed in Czech. Sample tests and literature needed for the entrance exam can be found in the appendices at the bottom of the page.
The bachelor's study programme Wood Technology, specialization Wood Processing, can be studied full-time or part-time. The three-year study is aimed at acquiring comprehensive knowledge in the field of wood processing, technologies for its processing, and the subsequent use of wood in products. In addition to theoretical lessons, the study also includes a number of field exercises.
The state final exam is taken before the committee. Students defend their bachelor's thesis and take exams in three comprehensive subjects: Basics of managing wood processing and furniture companies, Wood production technology, Wood in products.
Graduates of the bachelor's degree in Wood Technology will receive the academic degree Bc. and they can apply for some of the related fields of follow-up master's studies (especially Wood Engineering and Timber Constructions and Structures Based on Wood) or go into practice, where they work in production, management, and independent business activities in the field of wood processing and related production. They will find employment especially as economic experts, administrative and trading staff in the field of wood technology, trade in timber and timber commodities, but also in other economic sectors.
The quality of FLD graduates is also evidenced by published research on the unemployment rate of university graduates. For FLD graduates, the value has been very low for a long time; the latest figure is 1.6%.
