This specialization replaces the original field of study Economic and administrative service in forestry.
Entrance exam: We accept students for this specialization without an exam. Foreigners who do not have a secondary school leaving examination in a field taught in Czech or Slovak will be interviewed in Czech.
The bachelor's study programme Forestry, specialization Economics and Management in Forestry can be studied full-time or part-time. The aim of the study is to deepen students' knowledge in the field of economic evaluation of raw wood, valuation of all ecosystem services, and to deepen their knowledge in the field of marketing and so-called green-jobs. It combines three basic aspects: economic, forestry, and management. It thus provides students with a broad foundation and they are able to connect these three disciplines and think in the context of these areas. The field of study is ideal for students who want to work in economic positions in the context of forestry and also represents a universal and branch-oriented basis for further studies in economics, forestry, or other related disciplines.
The state final exam is taken before the committee. Students defend their bachelor's thesis and take exams in four comprehensive subjects: Logging and transport of wood, Forest management, Legal regulation of forest management, Marketing and accounting in forestry.
Graduates of the bachelor's degree programme Forestry, specialization Economics and Management in Forestry, will receive the academic degree Bc. and they can apply for some of the related fields of follow-up master's studies (especially Forest Engineering) or they go into practice, in particular:
- state administration staff in the area of forestry, game management, nature conservation and environmental protection;
- economic experts in the mentioned areas.
The quality of FLD graduates is also evidenced by published research on the unemployment rate of university graduates. For FLD graduates, the value has been very low for a long time; the latest figure is 1.6%.
