Duration of study: 3 years (6 semesters)
Language of instruction: Czech
Entrance exam: Written exam in mathematics. Successful participants of secondary school science competitions and secondary school professional activities are accepted without entrance exams. Foreigners who do not have a secondary school leaving examination in a field taught in Czech or Slovak will be interviewed in Czech. Sample tests and literature needed for the entrance exam can be found in the appendices at the bottom of the page.
The bachelor's study programme Wood Technology, specialization Business in Woodworking and Furniture Industry is only available in full-time form. The field of study educates in economics and management in the wood, wood processing, and furniture industries. It thus represents a specific view in which the technical and economic aspects of the industrial sector of wood utilization and processing intertwine. Students acquire managerial and economic skills in the area related to the purchase of raw wood, its processing, the production of wood commodities (including wooden buildings, furniture, etc.), and the subsequent sale of products on the market.
The state final exam is taken before the committee. Students defend their bachelor's thesis and take exams in three comprehensive subjects: Basics of managing wood processing and furniture companies, Wood production technology, Marketing of wood processing and furniture manufacturing.
Graduates of the bachelor's degree programme Wood Technology, specialization Business in Woodworking and Furniture Industry will receive the academic degree Bc. and they can apply for some of the related fields of follow-up master's studies (especially Wood Engineering or Wooden constructions and wood-based constructions) or go into practice, in particular:
- production, management, and independent business activity in the field of wood processing;
- production of large-scale construction materials, manufacturing of furniture or, for example, manufacturing of musical instruments;
- economic experts in the field of wood technology, but also in other economic sectors.
The quality of FLD graduates is also evidenced by published research on the unemployment rate of university graduates. For FLD graduates, the value has been very low for a long time; the latest figure is 1.6%.
