Entrance exam: We accept students for this programme without an exam. Foreigners who do not have a secondary school leaving examination in a field taught in Czech or Slovak will be interviewed in Czech.
The bachelor's study programme System Arboriculture is a multidisciplinary field that includes the care of woody plants and their stands in an urbanized environment, but also in parts of the forest that significantly serve to the public. The aim of the study is to prepare graduates for employment at various levels of state administration and regional self-governments, municipal or private business entities, organizations, legal and natural persons, agencies, and expert institutes whose activities are connected to the focus of this programme. It deals with the societal need for maximum preservation of woody vegetation and ensuring its operational safety.
The state final exam is taken before the committee. Students defend their bachelor's thesis and take exams in four comprehensive subjects: Evaluation of woody plants, Methods of treatment of woody plants, Arborist technologies, Protection of woody plants in the urban environment.
Graduates of the System Arboristics bachelor's programme will receive the academic degree Bc. and they can apply for some of the related fields of follow-up master's studies or go into practice, in particular:
- as staff of private arboriculture companies that focus on the care of green vegetation
- in expert positions in state administration and local government in the field of protection and creation of urban vegetation,
- staff of public benefit nature conservation and landscape protection organizations, or monument conservation, expert institutes,
The quality of FLD graduates is also evidenced by published research on the unemployment rate of university graduates. For FLD graduates, the value has been very low for a long time; the latest figure is 1.6%.
