The phytopathology laboratory has equipment that can be used to determine pathogenic organisms (especially fungi) using optical microscopes and stereomicroscopes, with which it is also possible to take photos of the observed object.
The laboratory is also equipped with a laminar box, which enables work in a sterile environment, e.g. inoculation of fungal cultures on agar media.
There is also a steam sterilizer with horizontal filling mainly for sterilizing liquids and metal instruments, and a hot air sterilizer with the possibility of setting the required temperature and time parameters (max. 99 hours).
In addition, it is possible to use WinRhizo software, which is used to measure root systems. Using a scanner, it allows to take photos of the roots based on morphological and colour analyses. It is used, for example, to evaluate the biomass of the root system or to count mycorrhizal tips.
