The main goal of FORHEAL project (Forestry Higher Education Advancement in Laos) is to strengthen the higher education system in Laos with the help of the best European forestry universities. The project is run by the Finnish University of Helsinki (Helsingin Yliopisto), with the participation of Alber-Ludwigs-Universität from Freiburg, Germany, and the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of CZU, Prague.
The specific objectives are:
- To support three Lao universities in the preparation or development of their Master Forestry Programs (National University of Laos, University of Savannakhet and Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang)
- Improve the employability of graduates by matching the curriculum with national and regional needs by promoting awareness of possible internships and work experience opportunities with relevant employers, and enhancing the training capacities of academic staff.
- Support South-South cooperation and exchange in order to improve the quality and availability of teaching and training capacities in Laos.
- Strengthen links and cooperation between higher education institutions in Laos and Europe, including academic and staff visits.
