The project objective was to replace the provisional carpentry centre with a new Pavilion of Wood Sciences and equip it with modern technologies for postgraduate students and employees to carry out their research activities there, and for pregraduates to take their forestry and wood sciences classes (theoretical as well as practical). The premises divide into three parts – the main four-floor building, the two-floor building with lecture halls in the eastern part, and the corridor leading from the main entrance.
The net floor area is 5.400 m2 of lecture rooms, laboratories and workshops. On the 4th floor, there are workshops equipped with wood-processing and wood-testing machinery including nanotechnologies and an electron microscope. On the 2nd floor, there is a lecture hall for 160 students and two smaller classrooms. The project enabled us to equip laboratories and workshops with modern technologies.
The Pavilion of Wood Sciences FFWS project, supported by the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations, was implemented in 10 months and the Pavilion finished by the end of 2016. It is one of two most important investment projects put through at CZU in decades.
The Pavilion of Wood Sciences FFWS was inaugurated on January 28, 2016, with the attendance of academics and officials from the Czech Republic and abroad.
