Graduates of this PhD study program gain knowledge about climate change and its impact on forest ecosystems. They are specialized in climatology, meteorology in the context of predicted climate development and its future scenarios, the carbon cycle, and the impact of changing conditions on forest production and the biodiversity of forest ecosystems across the landscape. The program's students will be provided with knowledge of communication and management strategies, how to deal with the impacts of global climate change on forestry and how to explain the problematics to public. They will acquire the theoretical foundations on human dimensions of the impacts of global change and the current possibilities of adaptive, mitigation and innovation techniques. Graduates become experts who can contribute to solving crisis situations that are related to dangerous phenomena reinforced by climate change. The course is taught in English, therefore the graduates are expected to find a job throughout Europe and in the surrounding regions.
