Developing a transnational strategy for restoring degraded forests

RE-ENFORCE Kick-off meeting, Vienna 3-5 June 2024

Nine project partners met from 3 June to 5 June 2024 in Vienna in the pleasant surroundings of Schönbrunn area, where BFW, the lead partner, is based, to discuss the possible obstacles on the three-year path, the advantages of mutual cooperation, the details of certain actions, to get a clear overview of the project and finally to define the first steps. Dr Peter Mayer (BFW) and Dr Silvio Schüler, (BFW) opened the meeting, followed by Anna Boruch, from Interreg CE-JS provided some useful insights. Andrea Silberberger from ÖROK pointed out an important  direct contact with the national contact points.

The excursion to the Japons pilot action area, coordinated by Maria Strasser, Leitung Guts-& Forstverwaltung Horn Estate & Forest Administration, was an ideal introduction to the discussion about the upcoming work on the pilot actions among the project partners.

The established connections and the shared vision of the RE-ENFORE partners give the project a healthy and promising start.
