Electromagnetic coils (1x Merritt, 2x Helmoltz)
The Merritt coil is located at Truba Research Station. The coil is the largest electromagnetic (EMG) coil for biological research in Europe. This coil is a cube, composed of 4 arms in each direction (x,y,z). It has a total of 12 arms and several kilometers of copper wires that change the EMG field inside the coil. Its dimensions are 4x4x4 m. Other EMG coils are located directly at the FLD ČZU. These are 2 Helmholtz coils with a diameter of 2x2 m. It is possible to set all important variables here, including the colour and intensity of light, as well as the strength, direction, and density of EMG fields.
An example of experiments that can be performed in an EMG coil is the magnetic alignment test.
