The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of the CZU in Prague has been awarded two new cross-border projects under the Czech-Poland Interreg programme. These projects focus on nature conservation and sustainable management of forest ecosystems, which is crucial in the context of climate change and increasing pressure of tourism on the natural environment.
The first of the projects is SNĚŽNICKÝ ZWORNIK II, where the lead partner is the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic. The aim of this project is the development of cooperation to improve the care of protected areas under the management of RDOŚ Wrocław and AOPK CR, with the support of experts from CZU. The project will start next June and run for four years. The principal investigator for FLD is Ing. Vojtěch Čada, Ph.D.
The second project is Forest of the Krkonoše Mountains - Joint Management in KRNAP and KPN, which is led by the Administration of the Krkonoše National Park. This project focuses on the unification of procedures, transfer of experience and evaluation of forests in partial aspects of forest ecosystem management. Achieving the target values of species composition will depend on the use of suitable genetic material of spruce and fir. The project will also include the monitoring of game movements, which will monitor the spatial activities of game in the context of new external influences. The project will be implemented from January 2025 to September 2029. The principal investigator for FLD is Ing. Ing. Jiří Korecký, Ph.D.
The faculty will contribute to the solution of current environmental challenges.
